Antiques & Collectibles Charity Auction

For over 25 years, the American Rescue Workers Williamsport Corps has been offering the public opportunity to bid on antiques and collectibles that have been donated during a six month period. Individuals, businesses or families that are liquidating estates, have in the past, made sizeable and valuable contributions to the charitable work done by the American Rescue Workers. In being good stewards of those contributions, the auction process was introduced in the late 1970's, with a local auctioneer, who donated many hours of his time to auction these items to the highest bidder.

Charity Auctions have been an important part of the operating budget, consistently providing funds for the industrial department, thrift stores, administration, shelters, social services, homeless prevention, emergency food programs, disaster relief and church ministries.

Gold, silver, antique and costume jewelry, glassware, pictures, furniture, coins, sports cards and memorabilia, records, lamps, radios, trains, books, local artwork, Indian artifacts, vintage clothing, quilts and linens, toys, dolls, etc., have been some of the consistent items that are offered at our auctions.

In 2005, Colonel Sam Astin, Williamsport's Commanding Officer, obtained his auctioneering license from Harrisburg Area Community College. He now conducts all the Charity Auctions for not only the Williamsport Corps, but for the National Organization.

Bi-Annual Charity Auctions are offered in early spring, around March or April, and in early fall, September or October.
